Briefly mentioned in Dante鈥檚 Inferno, title character Gianni Schicchi plays upon the avarice of a dead man鈥檚 family to take for himself the large part of their inheritance.
Debuting in Philadelphia in 1918, Philly audiences have seen Nelson Eddy and Licia Albanese perform roles. The 2009 Opera Company of Philadelphia production featured 91亚色lumni Ailyn P茅rez and Stephen Costello as Lauretta and Rinuccio.

Il tabarro (鈥淭he cloak鈥) was originally conceived as a companion piece for Gianni Schicchi in Puccini鈥檚 Il trittico (along with Suor Angelica). It is the second-most frequently performed of the Triptych and is often paired with Gianni Schicchi. Presented in the style of verismo (鈥渞ealism鈥) opera, the story revolves around a love triangle of a barge owner, his wife and a stevedore.
